"Bringing in a professional qualification might go some way to dispelling the negative image the industry seems to have.
However, at this stage it may seem a rash move and it might be more effective to introduce a government accredited scheme.
It's quicker to implement than a training programme, and landlords would be able to display a standards mark once they had signed up and agreed to a code of conduct designed to promote good practice."
